What Was On Your Radio?

About

Tuenful Radio

The Short Story…

Tuneful Radio is a monthly video and audio podcast created and hosted by me, Natalia Anderson with the purpose of getting to know my guests through the music that was “on the radio” at various stages in their life.

By using categories illustrated as “radio stations” we visit 5 eras prompting guests into thinking of songs that would sum up these times of their lives.

They are:

‘Early Childhood’, ‘High School’, ‘Early Adulthood’, ‘Love & Heartbreak’ and ‘Present Day’.

Sharing these songs enable my guests to open up about their lives and even access memories that they might have otherwise forgotten!

At the end of the conversation, I introduce ‘Future Radio’ and showcase an unsigned/indie artist that I think my guest might like!

Ep 2: Ansu Kabia Interview

In this episode I am talking to the incredibly talented actor and very dear friend of mine, Ansu Kabia. We go waaaay back and I’m so pleased that he agreed to be interviewed for this podcast.

Ep 1: Kat Anderson Interview

Kat is a Poet and public speaker and kindly offered herself as a guinea pig for my new podcast format! Initially it was just going to be a demo, but I had so much fun in this interview that I just had to share it with you.

The Long Story…

started Tuneful Radio podcast back in early 2018 after coming across an old CD recording of my University radio show (shout out to Wired Radio at Goldsmiths!!)! It spurred me on to finally take the leap into podcasting, which by that point I had been thinking about/ procrastinating about for a few years!  I recorded 3 episodes to finally get it done.  The concept was more like a radio show where I would speak on the latest music news and events, whilst also playing mini mixes of some songs I was listening too at the time.    It was dependent on audience interaction and my staying up-to-date with what was happening in music.  The turnover proved just too quick for me as a one-woman-band (as it were) and I just couldn’t keep up!

That’s when I went back to the drawing board and came up with another concept for Tuneful Radio.  At that time I had been enjoying long form interview style podcasts and thought I could do my own but of course sprinkled with the Natalia flavour and the added element of music!

I always found it really interesting to find out what songs were around / what people were listening to at various stages in their lives. So with this in mind, I came up with a selection of categories that I could use to prompt my guests into thinking of songs that would sum up these times of their lives.

One feature that I kept from the old Tuneful Radio podcast and which was a hangover from my Tuneful TV Blog, is the SPOTLIGHT ARTIST section, now known as the FUTURE RADIO ARTIST.  This is where I look to the future by taking the opportunity to promote and support the music of an unsigned artist.  It’s super important for me to promote new talent and I suppose that has always been the reason why I created these platforms.
